What if not knowing everything isn’t a problem—but part of the plan? In 2 Nephi 28:30, the Lord says He teaches us “line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little.” Kevin and Justin sit with that idea and begin asking what it actually means to learn from God. The conversation moves from information, knowledge, and wisdom to failure, humility, receiving counsel, changing seasons of life, and the uncomfortable reality that sometimes the right path still feels incredibly hard. Maybe God isn’t withholding the whole picture from us. Maybe becoming who He wants us to become requires receiving truth a little at a time—and continuing to listen even when we think we already know enough.
Scripture: 2 Nephi 28:30
“For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little…”
What does “line upon line” actually look like in real life?
Kevin and Justin begin with Nephi’s warning about deception and false teachings in the last days, but one verse sends the conversation somewhere much more personal.
They wrestle with the difference between information, knowledge, and wisdom. They talk about why God may intentionally teach us gradually, why the same scripture can mean something different during different seasons of life, and why “receiving” God’s counsel may require much more than simply hearing it.
Along the way, they explore parenting, construction, football, failure, career changes, patriarchal blessings, faith, doubt, and the humility required to admit: I don’t know yet.
One idea keeps resurfacing:
Maybe the goal isn’t to finally have all the answers.
Maybe the goal is to remain teachable enough to keep receiving more.
One verse. Two dudes. A conversation.
